Richard Leach - MB ChB (Hons 1982), FRCP (1985), MD (1992)
Richard Leach has been a Consultant physician in General, Respiratory and Critical Care medicine at Guy's and St Thomas's Hospital Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Kings College London since 1994. As a respiratory specialist he has expertise in asthma, COPD (emphysema), tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, chronic respiratory disease (including interstitial lung disease and hypoxaemic lung disease) and the investigation (including bronchoscopy and chest imaging) and treatment of focal lung lesions, cough, haemoptysis and breathlessness.
He has extensive experience in the management of complex general medical problems including hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia, ischaemic heart disease, post-viral syndromes, diabetes (type 2) and the diagnosis of vasculitic and connective tissue diseases.
He is the lead clinician in the High Dependency Unit at St Thomas Hospital and has wide-ranging experience in Critical Care Medicine. He has published three textbooks in critical care and respiratory medicine, 31 peer reviewed papers and over 40 medical journal review articles and book chapters.
